5 Fun and Unique Date Ideas in Singapore

Valentine’s Day might be over, but that shouldn’t stop you from going on a romantic date with the love of your life! You can't go wrong with fancy dinners and movie nights, but these are slowly becoming cliché couple activities in Singapore.

Fortunately, the island never runs out of fun date ideas for any type of couple, whether you’re in your first months of dating or happily married for years.

Read on below to find our suggested fun and unique date ideas in Singapore that can help keep the spark alive, or help you score another date!

1. Capture memories through photoshoots

With many DIY photography studios popping up in Singapore, why not make the night even more memorable by snapping photos with your boo?

Located in Orchard Road and Funan respectively, Photophia and Photomatic are among the most popular self-photo studios on the island, with rates starting as low as $30. There are also many others scattered all over the island!

The colourful backdrops, fashionable costumes, and fantastic props can bring an ordinary photoshoot to the next level!

Self-photo studios don’t have photographers, so you can let loose and live in the moment with your boo even if you’re a bit camera-shy!

2. Explore the outdoors

In a tropical country like Singapore, exploring the outdoors through water sports is one of the best ways to beat the heat! Start with paddle boarding, banana boat rides, and kayaking if you have no experience in water-based sports.

Once you’ve found your groove in the water, you can move on to more thrilling and extreme rides such as wakeboarding, windsurfing, and jet skiing. These aren’t considered typical couple activities in Singapore, so a date surrounded by water will be one for the books!

Another outdoor date idea in Singapore is exploring new routes. As one of the most walkable cities in the world, there might be no better place for couples who love going on walks and discovering places.

Here’s some good news: the eastern stretch of the Round Island Route was recently opened last month, serving as a new site for recreational activities like walking, cycling, and skating.

If you’re in the mood for a fun and stimulating game, you’re going to love our Puzzle Hunt! It’s an outdoor hunting game where participants become the advisor of a character called Toast King.

The goal of the game is to help him solve puzzles and guide him through the streets of Singapore to unlock his treasure chest!

3. Go island-hopping

Island-hopping is the go-to activity of couples who want to take a breather from work together, or life in general. With travel restrictions still in place, running away from the city and exploring the islands is the closest thing we can have to travel.

Plan an entire weekend together and take in the gorgeous sea views at Singapore’s offshore islands. Pulau Ubin is the home of lush greeneries and abundant wildlife, while Lazarus Island is popular for its white sand and turquoise waters.

If you’re after something informative, then try to book any of the tours run by the National Environment Agency at Pulau Semakau. You’ll be a changed person afterwards!

4. Relax at a couple’s spa

Going for a spa treatment together makes an amazing getaway without booking a staycation and leaving the city. With spas in almost every corner of Singapore, both of you can enjoy a day of relaxation and head-to-toe pampering without breaking the bank.

Many spas offer rooms and special packages for couples, with some as low as $200 for a therapy, body massage, and back scrub.

There are even onsens in Singapore for those who want to experience a little bit of Japan!

5. Join classes and workshops

Thinking of picking up a new skill or hobby? How about joining workshops at local cafes and art studios together? From painting and pottery to calligraphy and perfume-making, you’ll never run out of art workshops to join in Singapore.

The bonus? The majority of art workshops are held over the weekend, so the entire weekend is yours to unleash your creativity together!

Some classes even provide food and wine and amazing tunes to really get you inspired while painting or concocting a scent.
