What used to be the bustling heart of travel in Singapore has become uncomfortably quiet in recent months. The ban on international travel has made Changi Airport eerily quiet in recent months, with services at Terminal 4 temporarily suspended to help save costs.
Although flights in and out of the country are few, most shops at both Changi Airport and Jewel are still open, with many flocking to the malls to reminisce their last trip out of Singapore.
If you’re itching to hop on a plane and travel, why not head to Changi Airport for a staycation? Having to pack your bags and make the journey all the way to the airport almost feels like you’re actually travelling overseas, all without the hassle of having to clear customs!
In need of a staycation soon? Here’s why Changi Airport is the best place to take a break! P.S: You can even use your SingapoRediscovers vouchers to offset your staycation from December onwards.
The perfect weekend getaway

A staycation at Changi Airport is the perfect way to not only escape from a hectic week of work, but it avoids the crowds you might encounter at other hotels. If that sounds appealing to you, here’s a 2D1N itinerary for a weekend escape at Changi Airport!
Accommodation

Finding an affordable yet luxurious place to spend the night is often the most stressful part of staycations. There are a few hotels within the vicinity of the hotel, but to get the most bang for your buck, we recommend staying at YOTELAIR Jewel!
With 3 different cabins to choose from, YOTELAIR has options for both couples and families. One of the key features of staying there is the adjustable SmartBed™, which allows guests to adjust their bed however they like.
The hotel has a lounge with a view overlooking the Rain Vortex as well, allowing guests to relax. Other facilities include shower cabins as well as a gym, however due to Covid-19 measures, the gym will be closed until further notice.

Day 1: Afternoon

Can you really say you’ve been to Jewel if you didn’t try a burger from Shake Shack? The burger chain hailing from the United States opened its first outlet in Singapore in 2019, right here at Jewel.
Tuck into their juicy burgers for lunch, a perfect way to kickstart your vacation at Changi. If you’re worried about the snaking queue, don’t worry as the hype surrounding the restaurant has slowly died down.
Our recommendation: Cheese Fries with the sauce on the side (so the fries don’t get soggy) + Peanut Butter Classic Hand-Spun Shake.

After lunch, it’s time to check in to your accommodation and drop off your bags before heading off to your next activity! Do note that check-in at YOTELAIR is at 3PM, but keep your eyes peeled for a special deal further down in the article!

Day 1: Evening

The best part of a staycation is having the treat yourself mentality, especially when it comes to food! Tiger Street Lab is Tiger Beer’s first concept store, and boasts not just mouth-watering local cuisine but its signature brews on tap as well! After a long day, Tiger Street Lab is the perfect place to grab some grub and unwind for the night.
Don’t forget to complete your visit with a customised bottle of Tiger Beer! You can choose from district labels based off different neighbourhoods in Singapore, and you can get your name printed on the bottle as well. This experience is unique only to Tiger Street Lab at Jewel, and if you’ve booked our tour of Changi Airport and Jewel, you’ll be entitled to customise a bottle at only $10 (U.P$15)!

End the day with a movie at Shaw Theatres, where they have not only the latest IMAX screens, but a dedicated family hall as well! Catch the latest blockbusters on the big screen, but do remember to book your tickets in advance, as cinemas have a current capacity of 50 patrons per hall.
Day 1: Late-night

If pampering yourself is the main highlight of a staycation, ending the night with some delicious hotpot is the cherry on top. Beauty in The Pot is known for its collagen broth, perfect for a heart-warming family meal. Their outlet at Jewel is open till 3AM, so if you find yourself looking for a snack after your movie, this is the perfect supper spot.
Day 2: Morning

Upset that you can’t make your annual pilgrimage to Seoul this year? Pop into Paris Baguette for breakfast and it will feel like you’ve been whisked to South Korea. The bakery hails from South Korea, where it’s wildly popular for its baked goods with an Asian twist.
We recommend getting the Royal Pudding, which is one of the must-try dishes at the bakery.

Before ending your staycation, head over to Jewel’s Canopy Park and explore the recreational wonderland situated on the top floor of Jewel! With 4 different areas for you to explore, the Canopy Park promises fun for all ages.
Admission to the park includes 4 different zones: Discovery Slides, Foggy Bowls, Petal Garden and Topiary Walk. If you wish to explore other zones, do note that separate fees apply. If you’ve booked our SG55 Changi Airport and Jewel tour, each booking comes with complimentary tickets to Canopy Park for all participants of the tour.
We recommend getting tickets to the Canopy Bridge as well, where you’ll get the chance to walk on a glass bridge, the vantage point for the best view of the Rain Vortex.
Day 2: Afternoon
All good things must come to an end, including your staycation. Check-out at YOTELAIR is by 12PM, unless you’ve opted for a late check-out.
Here’s a recap of all the perks you get from booking our Changi Airport and Jewel tour!
